PMA MEMBER AGREEMENT SUMMARY
*This is a short summary of sections 1-14 in the YLA Member Agreement. This is to help in understanding the terms and conditions in the Member Agreement form.
1-Community
- Youth Leaders for America (YLA) is a private community promoting education, life, liberty, and happiness.
- The community consists of individuals, families, and mentors with shared values.
- Members agree to the community's terms, responsibilities, and values.
- The agreement outlines rights, limitations, and responsibilities protected by the U.S. Constitution.
- By joining, members confirm these terms align with their personal beliefs.
2-Vision and Pledge
VISION
- Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: YLA supports the potential of homeschooling youth and families.
- Rooted in Christian faith and American heritage, YLA offers a space for connection, learning, and support.
- Promotes Leadership Education principles from "A Thomas Jefferson Education" by Oliver DeMille.
- Welcomes homeschool families sharing traditional Christian values and American liberty.
PLEDGE
- Speak openly of faith.
- Acknowledge our divine Creator.
- Build harmonious homes.
- Support living by objective morality.
- Support and protect immutable natural rights.
- Exchange support with one another.
- Support parents in raising and educating their children.
- Protect peace and respond to emergencies with proper tools and training.
- Resolve conflicts peacefully.
- Act with goodwill for others' benefit.
- Seek personal development.
- Work for future generations' benefit.
- Assemble together often.
3-Principles and Requirements of the Community:
- Act with honesty and integrity in all dealings.
- Follow moral principles based on Judeo/Christian values.
- Deliver goods and services with transparency and quality.
- Build trust, cooperation, and growth within the Community.
- Educate others on Community values and beliefs.
- Respect Member privacy and data privacy.
- Support parents in decision-making for their families and children.
4-Membership
- Pay the yearly membership fee.
- Pay for additional programs, meetings, classes, or events.
- Agree to and follow the Community's Agreement, Vision, and Beliefs.
- Attend mandatory parent and member meetings.
- Interact with other Members professionally and appropriately.
- Understand that membership renewal is not guaranteed.
- Note that YLA is not a 501(c)(3) organization

5-Community of members
- YLA is a community of Members, typically consisting of a family unit.
- Membership is open to those who support the shared vision, beliefs, and purposes of the Community.
- Approval by the Board is required for membership.
- YLA may terminate membership for those who do not adhere to the shared vision, beliefs, and rules.
- Members acknowledge and agree to uphold the shared vision and beliefs.
- Working together allows Members to achieve their shared goals.
- Additional policies and procedures must be followed to remain in good standing.
Education
- The Community offers various educational opportunities for families and children.
- These opportunities include weekly and set-length classes provided by Community Members.
- Class mentors oversee content and may require fees for participation.
- Each mentor is responsible for their class and conduct.
- Members may be removed from classes for obstructing learning or not following policies.
- Parents authorize other parents to assist their child but remain responsible for them.
- Authorization to act morally doesn't create a legal duty to act.
Meetings and Events
- Community members should interact and collaborate often.
- Community facilitates meetings for learning, socializing, and support.
- Parents are responsible for their own and their children's safety and actions.
Food from Members
- Members may provide food and snacks to others.
- Each member is responsible for communicating dietary needs and instructing their children on what to eat.
- The community is not responsible for food safety or dietary compliance.
Rideshare Services
- Members may provide rides to others at their own risk.
- Community is not liable for any incidents arising from rideshare services.
- Members must rely on their own or the driver's insurance for any claims or liabilities.
6-Community Structure
- Youth Leaders for America handles membership dues and finances.
- Transactions between members are private and not overseen by the community.
- Initial Board Members (Amanda Hansen, Debbie James, Becca Breinholt) govern the community and appoint officers.
- Members do not currently vote on leadership but the Board can amend procedures.
7-Governance
- The Board conducts community matters and appoints officers.
- Board decisions require a majority vote.
- Board can appoint and remove members, set term limits, and create advisory or sub-committees.
- The Board provides methods for members to submit requests or complaints.
8-Constitutional Rights
- Members assert their rights to association, self-regulation, free assembly, and private contracting.
- Community members believe in the fundamental right to make health and education choices for themselves and their children without government interference.
9-Complaints and Dispute Resolution
- Members should address complaints directly with each other first.
- If unresolved, complaints must be submitted to the Board.
- Board decisions on complaints are final, except for criminal matters which can be referred to authorities.
10-Amendments
- The Board can amend the Agreement by majority vote.
- Amendments are binding once posted online and after certain member actions.
- Members acknowledge the community will change and adapt over time.
11-Governing Law
- Agreement is governed by natural law, common law, U.S. and State Constitutions, and Utah state law for disputes.
12-Privacy
- Community does not sell personal information outside the community.
- Members may access each other's information for services but must respect privacy.
- Community may share event photos online.
- Members release the community from liability for compelled disclosures.
13-Indemnification and Release
- Members are responsible for their own actions and must indemnify the community and other members for any wrongdoing.
- Community does not guarantee specific outcomes; members are responsible for their own and their children’s results.
- Members release the community and other members from most legal claims, except for breaches of contract, willful misconduct, or criminal conduct.
- Members accept responsibility for their children's health and safety and agree not to enforce health measures on others.
Parental Obligations
- Community does not replace parental responsibilities.
- Members must insure their own children and address behavior or health concerns.
- Community does not enforce health practices; members are responsible for their own and their children’s health.
Permission to Follow Moral Code and Assist
- Members may assist each other as they feel morally compelled, without creating a legal duty to continue helping.
14-Legal Miscellaneous
- If any part of the Agreement is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- Agreement constitutes the full agreement between the community and the member, with no side agreements.
- Members sign voluntarily, with the opportunity to consult counsel, agreeing to the terms and responsibilities of membership.
